Mike Verrier had two tremendous rounds of gross 68+72=140 and won the individual prize.
Mike Kirby Runner Up in Senior County Championship after Play-off at Bramshaw 12.8.09
Toby stormed the field at Stoneham to win the Stoneham Trophy with an AM 67 and a PM 68 (135), nine under par, to beat Stoneham's Ryan Henley, who despite a fantastic afternoon round of 67 could only manage a 136 for the day, having shot 69 in the morning.
Twenty-four hours later Toby competed in the Mike Smith Memorial Trophy held at Brokenhurst. His scores of 69 and 65 for a six under, weren’t quite enough to lift the trophy.
The Solent Salver is played over 72 holes. It incorporates two 36-hole events - the Mike Smith Memorial Trophy and Stoneham Trophy. Toby finished one shot behind winner Jon Watt from Brokenhurst. Toby’s weekend total was 15 under par (67, 68, 69, 65 = 269).
Following on from his success in the Stoneham Trophy, Toby then competed in the Parman Cup, which is a World ranking event at St Mellion. His initial score of 81 was disappointing but his subsequent scores of 69, 69, and 70 left him one short of a playoff for the Parman Cup, over a very tough St Mellion course.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ROSIE MIST 2009 HAYLING JUNIOR OPEN WINNER
Rosie came first with a 36-hole score of 139 (70&69), narrowly beating three boys on 140 to win the Jack Smith Cup. Thirteen-year-old Rosie is a regular feature at the club ... she's there almost daily, practicing or playing. Currently playing off 12, she won't be staying there long. She is full of enthusiasm for the game, and she has a bright future ahead of her.
More congratulations for Raffi Dyer, who played through to the final of the English Women's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Enmore Park GC on 4-6 August. Raffi finished in 16th place out of 94 in this prestigious tournament.

TOBY BURDEN WINNER OF THE COLE SCUTTLE AND RUNNER UP IN THE COURAGE TROPHY MARK WARD TAKES THE 36 HOLE NETT PRIZE
Congratulations and good luck to Colin Walsh who has been selected for a second year to represent England, this time in the Italian U16 Championships at Bielia Betulla GC outside Milan from 30 August ... to be followed by an England match against Wales on 4 September. These competitions form part of the Nations Cup. His selection is just reward for the hard work he has put in over the last year which has seen him reduce his handicap to scratch and become a regular member of the County Colts team.
Congratulations to Mark Thistleton and Raffi Dyer who both reached the quarter-finals in national competitions on Thursday 30 July. Mark was playing in the EGU English Amateur Championships at Rye, and Raffi was playing in the EWGA English Girls' Close Amateur Championships at North Wiltshire. Commiserations to Mark and Raffi as neither secured a place in the semis, but we wish them good luck in their next competitions
