A warm welcome to Hayling Ladies Golf Club (HLGC).
We are an active and friendly Ladies Club with over 70 playing members, including a rapidly growing junior section, with plenty of incredible talent. Hayling Golf Club recently signed up to the R&A Women in Golf charter specifically targeting participation of women, girls and families in golf.
A packed diary across the year provides lots of opportunities to play a mixture of both fun and competitive golf as we run medal, stableford, foursomes, knockout, eclectic and trophy competitions as well as a variety of fun events, particularly during the winter. We support 9-hole competitions for those unable to play 18 holes, due to time, physical restraints, or personal preference and offer recognised red, blue and green tee options.
Our main competition day is on a Thursday morning, with competition tee times available to us on Saturdays / Sunday mornings, when ladies, who are unable to play on a Thursday, are able to participate in the week’s competition (which is then amalgamated with Thursday’s results where possible). Mondays are exiting mixed stableford competitions.
We participate in several County competitions throughout the season and enter teams in the County Stoneham Cup and Hayling Trophy. We also play numerous ‘friendlies’ against other clubs, both home and away. It’s always great to see a wonderful team spirit and display of camaraderie during these matches and it’s an excellent way to meet other golfers and play different courses.
Our current Ladies’ Captain, Petro Henning is supported by Sandy Meyers, Vice Captain, and a committee of volunteers who help manage HLGC, which has its own Constitution with our AGM held in November each year.
The Ladies’ Captain organises several events throughout the year and Captain’s Day in particular, is an opportunity to raise money for her chosen charity whilst indulging in some fun on the course.
Our Christmas meal, Lady President’s Day, and Away Days to other clubs are further golfing and social opportunities, enjoyed by members.
We consider ourselves truly fortunate at Hayling as we appear to have our own unique micro-climate - we’ve watched many a rain cloud pass around us on the course. However, even when it does rain, we rarely walk off with muddy shoes because our Links course drains so well, which means we can play golf throughout the year. The course comes into its own when the sun shines and it feels just like a day at the seaside!
Our stunning Clubhouse, built in an Art Deco style, is where we meet to relax, chat and enjoy a coffee, or something stronger as the social aspect of golf is particularly important to us at Hayling. Our lounge and bar are situated on the first floor, with beautiful views over the sea – perfect for watching ships, tankers and liners pass through the Solent.
In June this year, we’re thrilled to be hosting the English Senior Women’s Stroke Play Championship, with many of our members volunteering to support this prestigious 4-day event and a few was even brave and talented enough to enter.

On 30th September 2021 we will be holding a team open where each team of three will be assigned a Hayling lady to play with you, and show you round the course. You’ll get to experience our lovely course first-hand, for a fraction of the normal price, and appreciate the superb links course and stunning views from the first floor of our clubhouse.
